With the many uses of these exterior shutters, it is no wonder that these shutters are just no longer traditional ornaments to our windows and doors, but more and more are now reinventing the different uses and styles of exterior shutters.
If before these shutters are just seen in venetian and traditional American styled houses, today these shutters are now seen in modern houses as window and door shutters, balcony shutters, and dividers. The only difference, however, are the materials used. Good are the days that only wood shutters can be seen in houses. Now, these shutters could be made in PVC, aluminum, steel, plastic, and fiber glasses. Wood, on the other hand, is still preferred by most people. The best types of wood materials for shutters are red wood and cedar. These materials, however, are not durable enough unlike the other materials. Aluminum and steel shutters are now gaining popularity as window and door shutters for modern offices and houses. These materials are light and versatile to use. They could complement any architectural design. They could also even last for a life time. Aluminum and steel shutters are so durable that they could withstand any weather, either hot or cold. These materials are quite expensive, nonetheless.
PPV and plastic shutters are the most cost effective custom shutters in the market. Although they are not as ingrained as aluminum and steel, their durability is not lesser than them. What is more, these materials are easy to be custom made as their prices are not that high and materials are light weight. They could easily be painted and styled to match any architectural design. PPV and plastic materials are more less to maintain as well. They too could withstand any weather just like the other two.
Shutters plays are great role to our houses, not just as ornaments but for extra protection and privacy.
