Man And Technology

We are living in the modern times where almost everything else done with the aid of technology especially when it comes to buying things. Perhaps there will come a day when everything else is done without human contact and that poses a threat to all of us. I love online shopping especially when I am buying in large quantity or buying construction materials such as hinges, vinyl decorative hardware, window boxes, lighting fixtures. I prefer paying my bills online. I also prefer working remotely. However, there are times when I crave talking to another person especially when I need assistance with something or an answer right away such as the details of my bill or the item which I am about to buy.

It is kind of frustrating to be answered by a machine on the other line sometimes. I am talking about infamous and sometimes hated IVR or Interactive Voice Response. This is the technology which picks up our calls and answers our basic inquiries whenever we call our bank, phone company or cable company, provides callers access to their test results in the hospitals or callers. This is the same technology which also takes our bookings, orders and payments. However, the IVR is much preferable than talking to someone on the other line who provides incorrect answers or sounds like a machine. Companies should make sure that they hire customer service personnel who does not only know their product but are also willing to help.

The wonders of technology can be both scary and amazing. But it is undeniable that technology has done wonders to our lives. It improved our health care facility and hospitals, communication system education, transportation system and entertainment. They also made our work much easier. Now we can communicate with our love ones with the use of our mobile phones, tablets or laptops. Education is also accessible and more fun because of technology. However, let us not be too dependent on technology. They are probably more reliable that some us but remember that no man is an island.
