Houses with proper lighting and well ventilated rooms are ideal houses in the tropical countries. houses especially near the beaches are normally designed with wide windows or windows with Bahama style shutters. These type of designs provide natural air flow for the home and are much preferable compared to an air conditioning system or electric fan. However, most urban homes in the tropical countries do not have the luxury of natural ventilation and has to depend on an air conditioning system or electric fan for cooling. In addition, most places in the city do not have fresh air. Smoke and fumes coming from factories, our homes, vehicles and commercial places make the air toxic. Thus most likely have been the cause of most lung diseases and other respiratory tract infection such as bronchitis and asthma.
However, there are still places in this world where people still enjoy breathing clean and fresh air such as the rural areas and boondocks. It is one of the reasons why I love living in the rural. I do not mind going home everyday in spite of the fact that I have to travel several miles to my work place. There is no need for an air conditioning system in the countryside unless the weather is really warm of course. The fresh air that passes through the fiberglass Bahama shutters is just enough to keep every room in the house properly ventilated without compromising our privacy. The tress and flowering plants that my father planted in the yard along time ago are also a big factor to keep the place cool.
Climate and location must always be considered in choosing the design for your home. Construction materials must also be considered too. It is important that these things must be observed because the interior and exterior design of one house in one place may not be ideal to another. Otherwise, it may only cause problems rather than comfort and satisfaction.
